Q-Mux

The Q-Mux™ Point Identification System permits simplified, fully programmable two-wire multiplexing. The system employs a single set of two telephone grade wires to provide RS-485 communication for up to 32 nodes over a distance of 5000 feet. Nodes require 12 volt power and can be located at the head end or in the field. ID Modules are connected to a single set of two telephone grade wires. Because the system requires so little power, numerous inputs and outputs share the wires while retaining their own individual identities. Q-Mux™ also allows the conversion of contact switch networks, such as relays, to addressable networks. System is immune to noise and false alarms by verifying data numerous times before processing new conditions.  Each identification module contains a processor, ROM, RAM, and EEPROM for field updating of variables: The ID modules include:

Q-EOL Addressable module for monitoring dry contact closure. Requires user supplied 1.43 K-ohms resistor for supervision across input contacts.  This is the required module for monitoring fire alarm contacts. Q-1CL (Latching Addressable Contact) This module provides a direct interface between digital inputs (contact closures) and the Q-Mux™ Node. Contacts can be either NO or NC.  The Q-1CL emulates the response of the Q-1C module and can interface directly with fast-acting momentary dry contacts.
   
Q-IR This addressable module provides magnetically latching relay contact output under control of the System 3505 via Q-Mux™ Node.  Relay activation is maintained without power.  If the Q-Mux™ system is reset, the relay will return to the Normal state. Q-I/O This addressable contact provides a direct interface between digital inputs (contact closures) and the Q-Mux™ Node. Contacts can be either NO or NC.  It also provides a digital output that can be used to control an indicating LED.
   
Q-1C This digital addressable module is for monitoring dry contact closures (digital inputs).  Contacts can be either NO or NC (programmable at the System 3505). No EOL resistor is required.
